SAFETY GOGGLES are required at all times. It is recommended that the student bring in paper towels, a lab apron, rubber gloves and detergent.
GRADING
EXPERIMENTS (35%)
To obtain credit for the scheduled experiments, the student will turn in a typewritten report after the conclusion of each experiment.PRODUCTS (15%) In experiments where a product is generated, the product will be turned in and evaluated with respect to yield and purity.
NOTEBOOK (20%) A bound LABORATORY NOTEBOOK with numbered pages and carbons will be required. The notebook is required at all lab sessions and must be kept current for minimum credit. Pre-lab carbons will be turned in at the beginning of each experiment for 2/5 of this credit. Daily laboratory record carbons will be turned in following each lab period, for another 2/5 credit. Notebooks will be subject to unannounced examination and evaluation at any time during the semester, for the remaining 1/5 credit.
LAB TEST (30%) Quizzes covering both theoretical and practical topics from the scheduled experiments will be given. Relevant material from lecture is also included. Occasional "pop" quizzes may also be included for a portion of this grade.
