Fernando's carved and painted figure of St. Michael fighting the devil (on the right) is fantastic! Straining muscles, an intense facial expression, delicate fingers, gilded armor, colorful flowing drapery . . . all from a piece of wood, paint, and gold leaf. Amazing! |
