Tinsmithing in Guanajuato, Mexico
|
Tinsmithing is a general term used for working sheet metal. Besides tin, craftsmen in the state of Guanajuato also use copper and brass. Jaime Salazar directs Grupo Artesa (a tinsmithing business) and teaches tinsmithing at the Escuela de Bellas Artes "El Nigromante" in San Miguel de Allende. The mask below was made by his late brother and the patterns are from Jaime's class. |
