(At that time, there were approximately only fifteen reported schools that had a course in this field.)

“My dad was the hardest boss I ever worked for!” he said of working for his parents in a family-owned business.  While at Peer International, Inc. and Ford Motor Company (AIESEC Summer Fellowship in Oslo, Norway), Weinrauch served as purchasing/customer service manager, marketing researcher, and administrator.  He was also a purchasing/customer service manager for a highly successful small business in Chicago.

Dr. Weinrauch has written over a hundred articles, papers, and consulting reports on marketing, small business, and management.  He has written a number of books:  (1) The Frugal Marketer:  Smart Tips for Stretching Your Budget (AMACOM, 1989), (2) The Marketing Problem Solver (John Wiley, 1987), a book on marketing strategy and successful tips for executives, recently translated into Italian and Spanish, (3) Applied Marketing Principles (Prentice-Hall, Inc., 1979), (4) Teacher's Manual:  Applied Marketing Principles (Prentice-Hall, 1974), and (5) Marketing Planning Handbook for Rehabilitation Facilities (RPM Press, 1984).  Two of his books have been selected by a number of business book clubs including Fortune Business Book Club, McGraw-Hill and MacMillan Executive Program Book Club.

Over the last thirty years, he has served as a private and government consultant to small businesses and profit/nonprofit organizations.  Dr. Weinrauch's experiences in his own small businesses include the ownership of consulting, free-lance writing, and publishing ventures.  In meeting consulting responsibilities, he has worked with all levels of management—including top management and the board of directors of four organizations.  Professor Weinrauch has also been involved with SCORE and SBDCs at a number of universities.

Don Weinrauch has received a number of government grants while conducting a number of conferences, workshops, educational, and management development programs for adults and business people over the last thirty years.   His work includes such freelance customized assignments as training materials; company marketing/sales audits; marketing strategy plans; market analysis; marketing research; product development; and creating practical strategies for increasing sales plus profits.

Dr. Weinrauch has planned, created, and produced a weekly regional WCTE-TV, PBS television business show, “Upper Cumberland Business Profiles: Your Keys to Business Success.”  As host, he interviews small business owners and executives on their experiences in achieving success.  Originally, the television show was planned for ten weeks; however, because of its popularity, it has been airing for over thirteen years.

In the last twenty-seven years, he has consistently been formally rated as one of the top professors in the College of Business Administration at Tennessee Technological University, having won six monetary outstanding faculty awards in the College of Business for both teaching and research (1977-78, 1978-79, 1984-85, 1985-86, 1987-88, 1990-91), including the Curtis Kinslow Award for Excellence in Teaching.
