New National Norms
Beginning with Fall 2001 evaluations, the
IDEA center started using a new set of national norms. The new norms
reflect some changes in national trends.
- In general, averages for items in the new normative database are
slightly higher.
- Two items have substantially higher item averages (about a
half-point higher in the new database norms). Those items are: Acquiring
skills in working with others as a member of a team and Learning to
analyze and critically evaluate ideas, arguments and points of view.
While these item increases are greater than one would expect, teaching
experts who reviewed the twelve learning objectives, suggested that these
two items reflect areas where the greatest efforts to improve learning are
currently occurring on a national basis.
Availability
of New Local Norms
We
have accumulated sufficient data for new local norms. These new local
norms are available on this website.
In general the net effect is that there is a slight decline in TTU evaluation
scores as reflected in the graph below.
