Art 3621 - Surface Design II

Art 3621, Surface Design II, explores screen printing techniques with fiber reactive and acid dyes on natural fabrics.  Application techniques covered in this class will include:

bulletScreen-printing: Low-tech screen stencil methods using contact paper and masking tape. Various screen monoprinting methods.
bulletPhoto screen-printing: Light sensitive screen emulsion. Hand drawn and photographically derived images.
bulletBasic screen construction
bullet

Croquis design techniques for repeat pattern printing, including methods of putting the design into repeat for pivot, block, and half-drop layout.

bulletMultiple color registration printing for pivot, block, and half-drop layouts.
bulletFabric preparation for dyeing, activating, steaming, and wash out.
bulletHand and machine sewing.
