Dr. Pharr has consulted with several profit and nonprofit organizations throughout the region, primarily in the areas of market research and survey design, customer service management, and promotional planning. Nonprofit organizations with which she has worked include the Putnam County Regional Library, Bryan Symphony Orchestra, Center for Manufacturing Research at TTU, City of Cookeville CityScape Program, Upper Cumberland Rural Education Association, Office of Admissions at TTU, Leadership Putnam, and the City of McMinnville Economic Restructuring Board. Private sector businesses with which she has consulted include Cookeville Electric Motor, Cookeville Heating and Cooling, McCloud Marketing, Capps Enterprises, Inc., Flexial Corporation, Institutional Wholesale Corporation, and Visions Five Polymers Recovery, Inc. She was recently retained by the Cookeville—Putnam County Chamber of Commerce to conduct an image analysis. The project was completed in May 2004. In addition, she supervised and reported the marketing research conducted for the City of Cookeville’s Convention Center Feasibility Study.
Dr. Pharr has made numerous professional presentations and has published over thirty articles in refereed publications. In addition to publishing articles for the American Marketing Association, Atlantic Marketing Association, Southern Marketing Association, Society for Marketing Advances, and Mid-West Marketing Association, she has published in the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of Contemporary Business, Great Ideas for Teaching Marketing, American Journal of Business and Behavioral Sciences, Industrial Marketing Management Journal, National Social Sciences Journal and Services Marketing Quarterly.
