The ECE Digital CAD Laboratory (CadLab) is a computing resource for the
Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Tennessee Technological
University, operated as part of the TTU PClab network. It was originally intended to support only the digital and computer
engineering courses, but it has evolved to provide the advanced computing needs
for many areas in the department. The CadLab supports our specialized computer
hardware and software needs, such as programmable logic boards, microcomputer
boards, and computer-based design tools for logic, software, mathematics,
controls, instrumentation, physical phenomena, and MEMS
(Micro-Electrical-Mechanical-Systems). In the digital and computer engineering
area, students use the CadLab to gain valuable experience in logic design,
assembly language and high-level language programming, and microprocessor
operation and interfacing. The CadLab occupies rooms BN320 and
BN324 in Brown Hall. There are 17 PCs and 2 printers in BN320 and 12
PCs in BN324 available to all ECE students. The equipment was purchased by a combination of funds from the ECE
department and the university (via the Technology Access Fee paid by students).
Currently, the lab is managed by the TTU ITS Department, with the help of Associate Professor Dr. Roger Haggard
and some student workers.
