Central Node for UCR Foray in Clinton County, Kentucky--12-14 June 2009

Few Willow Flycatchers have been detected during UCR Forays, so one singing the typical song ("fitz-bew") of the species on Hudson Rd. in the Albany 5 block during the Clinton County Foray was more than a little welcome; photo Douglas A. Downs (13 June 2009).

One of the 2009 UCR Forays was conducted in Clinton County 12-14 June; it was the first bird survey of its kind to take place in that county.

Table 1. Species Detected during the 2009 UCR Foray in Clinton County 12-14 June, all deemed to be local breeders; 17 species with names in red were NOT detected in Clinton County during the Kentucky Breeding Bird Atlas project, when 82 species were recorded in the county or close to it (the following species were detected during the BBA project but not during the foray: Sharp-shinned Hawk and Baltimore Oriole) (Palmer-Ball 1996) .  Breeding Categories and Codes: POS = Possible Breeder; PRB = Probable Breeder; CON = Confirmed Breeder.  X = Present; P = Pair; A = Agitated Behavior; C = Courtship/Copulation; DD = Distraction Display; CN = Adult Carrying Nest Material; NB = Adult Building Nest; UN = Used Nest; FY = Adult Carrying Food for Young; BG = Begging Young; FL = Fledged Young; FS = Fecal Sac Removed from Nest by Adult; ON = Adult on Nest Incubating/Tending Young; NE = Nest with Eggs; NY = Nest with Young.
