Results of Spring BirdBlitz in Cumberland County, Kentucky--5 May 2007
Organized bird counts have seldom been conducted in Cumberland County, Kentucky, two Christmas Bird Counts that took place during the mid-1960s being the only known counts to have occurred, so a Spring BirdBlitz, even with a limited number of field parties, was a welcome addition to the count data amassed in this county. Fairly hard rainfall during the late morning of this count probably diminished the results slightly for some species, but data for other species may well have been improved by this feature of the count.
