Course Objectives:
1. To increase students’ knowledge of world literature;
2. To improve students’ ability to read literary texts;
3. To improve students’ written communication skills;
4. To analyze the issues of parenthood and hate speech in literature, using critical thinking techniques as a guide to analysis.
Some Course Policies:
1. Excessive unexcused absence and/or lateness to class may affect the course grade;
2. Submission of late work may affect the assignment grade;
3. Avoid early departure from class (if it
proves necessary, let me know at the beginning of
class that you must leave early and sit near the door before
exiting);
4. Avoid all forms of oral gratification (i.e., do not eat, drink, or chew) in class;
5. Take care of nature before class; i.e., do not leave in the middle of class to empty your bladder.
6. Turn off cell phones, iPods, and computers, etc., and do not access them during class.
Students with a disability requiring accommodation should contact the Office of Disability Services (ODS).
