Abundance:  Occasional (1 record in each of 2 Kentucky counties, with each record involving a single individual).

Status: Winter Resident; photographs (see links below).

Information on Records: 

7-25 January 2002 (1--juvenile) Sawyer's Landing, Barren River Reservoir, Barren County, Kentucky (David L. Roemer videotape and photo, m. ob.; Busroe 2002b), photo (7 January 2002, David L. Roemer).

4-24 November 2006 (1) near and at the Waitsboro Recreation Area, Lake Cumberland, Pulaski County, Kentucky (Roseanna M. Denton photo; Yandell 2008).

YardWatch Results 2003 and 2004: No registrations.

Habitat: Prefers large bodies of water, such as the impounded lakes of the Region.
