Abundance: Occasional (2 records in 2 Tennessee counties, each involving a single individual).
Status: Transient during fall (2 records); sight records.

20 November 1994 (1) Floating Mill Recreation Area, Center Hill Lake, DeKalb County, Tennessee (Stephen J. Stedman; Witt 1995a).

Habitat: Medium- to large-sized bodies of open water.
Remarks: Probably most likely to occur during and after inclement weather systems have passed through the Region during late fall.
