Conversion Table for Tellico River Gauge
(from gauge height in feet to cfs)
If you visit the website for the Tellico River gauge (URL provided below and via links at my Outdoors page), it will provide only a reading for gauge height in feet. Use the following table to convert to cubic feet per second (cfs). Cfs readings in the bold green range of 330-620 are best for a good run on the Tellico; lower or higher readings, especially in the bold red ranges, offer less than optimal conditions for a good run.

You may also determine the water level on the Tellico by visiting the physical gauge that is located on the river just upstream from the point where the Cherohala Skyway begins to parallel the river. Look for two large, vertical metal cylinders on river right (across the river from the Skyway); unless you have a telescope, it is best to take the road up the river right side of the river to this site and then walk down and look at the gauge.
Finally, you may also roughly judge the river level by looking at the Oosterneck boat ramp. This ramp is composed of 38 concrete slabs. When 12 of these slabs are under water, the river level is about 2.0 feet (330 cfs); when 16 slabs are under water, the river level is about 2.3 feet (440 cfs); etc.
