Counties of the Upper Cumberland Region of  Kentucky and Tennessee

    The 26 counties (Figure 1) comprising the Upper Cumberland Region cover an area of 26,450 km² (10,212.4 mi²).  Each county is currently represented by a bird check-list although a few of the check-lists remain somewhat incomplete; links to these check-lists are underlined below.  Each county is also represented by a description of public access birding sites within its boundary; links to the pages for these descriptions are also underlined below.   Two counties have lists of early and late dates of arrival and departure for migrant species, and one county has a list of high counts for all species recorded within its boundaries.  In addition, links are provided to datasets related to Christmas Bird Counts, Fall Bird Counts, Great Backyard Bird Counts, Spring Bird Counts, and a few other miscellaneous counts, surveys, or censuses conducted within a given county.  Please send updates to any of the county lists or birding sites to me at the following address:
