The Upper Cumberland Science Teachers Association is a group of educators who are organized together to create opportunities for teachers at the various levels (preschool through college) to communicate about the content of their science courses and the learning resources available to assist them in their work. The overall aim is to enhance science learning and improve the progression of students from level to level as promoted by the Tennessee P-16 Initiative. We meet at least quarterly to plan/host activities that will enhance and enrich the teaching and learning of science in the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee.
Membership in the UCSTA is automatic for any teacher who is interested in science teaching and is affiliated with a school, community college, technical college, or university in the 20-county service area define by the Tennessee Department of Education (see the list of counties below). School and college administrators are considered ex officio members of the UCSTA and are welcome to participate in any of its activities.
