In early February, shortly after the last visit with Dr.
Kregor on January 30, I noticed
a hard, painful area above the ankle on the left side of my right leg.
Within a few days it
developed into what I can only describe as a giant boil, with a large
fluid-filled sac
beneath the surface of the skin. The darkest area you see here is the
fluid-filled sac,
and there is a mysterious dark line through the center, running parallel to the
bone.
The tender area is just below the boil in this image, and if I pressed on that
area, I
could see the boil rise, as if the pressure was being transmitted by fluid into
the raised
boil. Needless to say, this had me pretty concerned.
