Bristlecone Pine on Telescope Peak
Death Valley National Park, CA - October, 2002
This ancient Bristlecone pine is located just below the top of Telescope
Peak in the Panamint Range at about 11,000 feet elevation. The view looks
out
over Death Valley, and the white playa
in
the background is Badwater,
the lowest point in the United States at 250 feet below sea level.
Gazing to the northwest from the peak, you can also see Mount Whitney,
the highest point in the contiguous US.
