Travertine Hot Springs, Lower Pools

This image shows an active travertine ridge, built over
millennia by travertine
deposition from mineral-rich artesian hot spring water flowing down the
spine of
the ridge. The area around the springs is now a protected reserve, and the
soaking pools at the foot of the ridge were constructed
and are maintained by volunteers.
