Verde Hot Springs and the Verde River, just upstream
from Childs, AZ

This view looks downstream, and the Verde River campground is
about one mile via
the river trail or the ranch road. The stone building contains a small
105-degree hot spring
pool fondly referred to as "the lobster cooker." Two additional hot spring pools
are located in
manmade
caves, but have been fouled with bat guano. On the positive side, the bats
eat
four
times their weight in insects (including mosquitos) every night.
The old hotel site, located just around the bend upstream,
is accessible via a path and concrete staircase.
