
Applying brushed oxide decoration to bisque-fired plate on
electric
banding wheel (antique direct-drive record turntable). Cups of
oxide/water mixture are sitting on laboratory magnetic stirrers, with a
Teflon-encased magnet
stirring bar in each cup, in order to keep the
oxides in suspension.
Note: this picture was taken when I was using cobalt carbonate
for
underglaze brushwork on bisque, but the carbonate tends to cause
glazes to
crawl. After switching to cobalt oxide I had no further
problems with
crawling.
